Science Math and Robotic Technology Education (SMaRT Education), is a public 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Southern California. We are built on the forward-thinking investment approach that youth in our programs will be

the next inventors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.

Not sure which class is right for your child?

WeDo is a fun beginners class for our younger students. The builds are simple and fairly easy for small hands.

EV3 takes programming to a higher level and requires a bit more abstract thinking from students. Pieces are smaller and builds are little more involved.

Arduino is for students who are ready to move on from graphical programming to text based programming and want to explore a platform that allows for greater freedom in how builds are made.

SCHEDULE -
January 19th EV3 PD - Simple Machines are the basis for much of what happens in engineering. The winter session of our Saturday EV3 workshops will focus on using simple machines to get the job done!

The January EV3 workshop will focus on levers and pulleys to move our payload from one place to another. This is a guided build but students will have the option to modify their build on their own.

February 2nd Arduino PS - The Arduino Programming Platform is an open-source electronics platform intended for anyone making interactive projects by using an Arduino microcontroller board and writing code in the Arduino language which is a set of C/C++ functions and using the Arduino development environment. The winter session of our Saturday Arduino Workshops will focus on introducing students to the world of text-based with simple projects that allow for focus on programming with minimal building needed.

February 2nd WeDo PS - The wonderful world of WeDo introduces students to engineering and programming concepts with simple builds using colorful, kid friendly LEGOs and drag-and-drop programming blocks. Each Saturday WeDo will start a small build to introduce the programming software and get students comfortable with the platform then move on to a bigger build.

February 16th EV3 PD - Simple Machines are the basis for much of what happens in engineering. The winter session of our Saturday EV3 workshops will focus on using simple machines to get the job done!

The February EV3 workshop will focus on using gears to increase our power output to move our payload from one place to another. This is a guided build but students will have the option to modify their build on their own.

March 2nd EV3 PD - Simple Machines are the basis for much of what happens in engineering. The winter session of our Saturday EV3 workshops will focus on using simple machines to get the job done!

The March EV3 workshop will combine use of levers, pulleys and gears to move our payload from one place to another. This is a guided build but students will have the option to modify their build on their own.

March 16th Arduino PS - The Arduino Programming Platform is an open-source electronics platform intended for anyone making interactive projects by using an Arduino microcontroller board and writing code in the Arduino language which is a set of C/C++ functions and using the Arduino development environment. The winter session of our Saturday Arduino Workshops will focus on introducing students to the world of text-based with simple projects that allow for focus on programming with minimal building needed.

March 16th WeDo PS - The wonderful world of WeDo introduces students to engineering and programming concepts with simple builds using colorful, kid friendly LEGOs and drag-and-drop programming blocks. Each Saturday WeDo will start a small build to introduce the programming software and get students comfortable with the platform then move on to a bigger build.

Palm Desert workshops are held at the Regional Access Project Foundation office -

41550 Eclectic St, Palm Desert.

Palm Springs workshops are held at our science and technology lab, SciTech Academy, which is located at the Palm Springs Air Museum -

745 N Gene Autry Trl, Palm Springs.

Cost: $25 per class

SMaRT Saturday Workshops

SMaRT Saturday Workshop series explores various areas of digital media, technology and robotics.

The Winter 2019 series offers 2 workshops in Palm Springs! Saturdays at SciTech will feature Arduino workshops for students 11 - 16 years old (9am to 12pm), and WeDo robotics for students 6 - 8 years old (1pm to 4:00pm)!

Palm Desert workshops will focus on the EV3 platform for students ages 8-12 years old (9am to 12pm).

Spend your Saturday Exploring digital media technology and robotics!
